At Gaestehaus am Berg, we recycle around 80% of our rubbish, including plastics, paper & card, tin, glass, batteries, garden rubbish, food waste and more. We use low energy light bulbs throughout the guesthouse, all bathroom shower heads are fitted with water savers, collect rain water in water butts for use on our balcony flowers & garden. Guests are encouraged to re-use towels and bed linen is changed at the end of each stay or once a week, whichever is the shorter to reduce water use, energy and the use of washing chemicals. We use environmentally friendly cleaning chemicals whenever possible, We use local suppliers, contractors and services whenever possible. Our fresh breakfast rolls are supplied by the village baker. Our jams are homemade using fruit from our garden or that of our friends and neighbours or the forest itself. Our hospitality trays are stocked with mainly Fairtrade products. Through the guesthouses' partnership with the Guti scheme, Guests can use the local trains and buses, free of charge, during their stay. Bikes are available to hire from the guesthouse and walking & cycling trails start almost from the front door. We are in the process of replacing all room TVs and separate DVD players with more energy efficient LED TVs with intregrated DVD players. Guests can offset the carbon emissions of their travel by going to Future plans to include: install solar panels for hot water. We are always on the look out for other ways to reduce our impact on the environment
